Three Food Delivery Services to try

Food Delivery Services. A subscription-based business because they have a reoccurring payment model but not necessarily a subscription box. There are so many amazing food subscriptions out there but I decided to start with this blog post and just these three services because they are services I use weekly (ok... you caught me... sometimes daily). 

And let me just tell you that I have been using these services for years... I mean like, before it was cool to get your food delivered years. I endured all the jokes from friends when I'd get things delivered to my doorstep but now they've all caught on to how cool delivery services are. 

Also, I know these are not available every where but just sharing the ones I use. 

First, before I name names I just want to let you know why I choose a delivery services for food. Time is valuable. Your time is valuable. I use to go to a grocery store every week (sometimes multiple times a week) and it takes up a big chunk of time. And don't even get me started on the impulse buys. You may have gathered by now by reading some of my articles that saying no to things may not fall under my strong suit. Chips on sale I like... gotta have 'em. Ooh that looks good and I haven't tried it yet... put it in the cart. 

Ordering and having items delivered saves our family time and money (for real) but I know that may not be the case for all. But it's worth exploring because, just like so many of my friends, you may have a stigma about a service because it "sounds expensive" but then realize it actually saves you in the long run. 

Ok... no more suspense.... Here are three food delivery services to try: 

Instacart

I've been an Instacart member since 2018... I told you, before it was cool. And I can not count the hours I have saved by getting our groceries delivered. 

From the perspective of someone who works in the subscription industry I have a really big appreciation for how user friendly the app is. You can easily reorder past items, they discount items you frequently buy, and offer recipes within the app and make it easy to add all needed items into your cart. 

I can order groceries for the week simply by adding all the items to my cart and ordering it. If you go into a grocery store you have to make the list, head to the store, shop for the items, resist all the impulse buys, head back home. I'm tired just typing that out. As an entrepreneur getting my groceries delivered is one of my secret weapons (but not so secret now that I am telling you). I can use that time I use to spend at the store on my business. Hungryroot

I've tried a lot of meal delivery services before (and I am sure you'll hear about others in the future) but my current favorite is Hungryroot. If you have a specialty diet this service is worth trying. Our family stays away from dairy and gluten so using Hungryroot makes it easy to shop meals and groceries within our dietary restrictions.

I love finding new brands and products to try through the grocery options and the meal choices are always whole family favorites and big servings. This is definitely a pricer service (unlike Instacart I don't feel like we necessarily save money by using Hungryroot) but it does help take the guess work out of what's for dinner and saves me time when preparing meals.

DoorDash

Out of the three services this one may be the most "luxury". Do I need the local bagel shop to deliver bagels to my house when it's ten minutes away? Probably not. But does it make my daughters' (ok... and my) day when they wake up in the morning and I had prescheduled their favorite bagels to be delivered before school? Absolutely. 

DoorDash is one of those services that we use just on special occasion... but sometimes Taco Bell cravings at 10PM count as special occasions but it really is oh so convenient and with specials and offers that DoorDash provides sometimes it isn't always that much more to get it brought right to your doorstep.
